Rose and Pest Management: Observations and Thoughts
We are privileged to have Justin Ekuan, from Dana Point, CA, as our speaker this month. Justin is a retired Pathologist and he has been growing roses for 52 years. He and his lovely wife, Lilly, are the longest standing members of the Orange County Rose Society having joined in 1977. They are also members of the San Diego Rose Society. A role that he especially enjoys and has personally benefited from is being a Consulting Rosarian. His special areas of interest include propagation, exhibition, photography and rose disease pest management. Justin’s program is entitled “Rose and Pest Management: Observations and Thoughts.” His presentation will largely be based on his experience transitioning from a dependence on the overly enthusiastic use of chemicals to integrated pest and disease management adapted for roses.
Justin has served as a speaker for our society in the past and is an animated speaker which all of us will enjoy. We hope all of you will be able to attend this informative presentation.
Special Note: Justin’s presentation will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. right after our Fall Potluck which begins at 6:00 p.m.
We will have a a Rose Auction and a Little Rose Show this month.
Directions to Casa del Prado, Room 101: The Casa del Prado building is immediately west of the Natural History Museum. Entrances to the Casa del Prado lead to an inner court. The rooms are accessible from the court. Room 101 is downstairs on the east end of the court.
Fall Potluck at This Month’s Meeting!
Fall is a traditional time for potluck meals, when people bring their delicious foods to share. It is a special time when we come together to spend time talking and laughing, and enjoying the food brought by our members. As we sit around the tables, we also share stories about roses and our life events.
This month we will once again have a potluck. It will start at 6:00 p.m. just prior to our monthly meeting on October 21st. Please bring your delicious dishes according to the leading letter of your last name as indicated below. Homemade dishes are the tastiest and best!
Following the potluck, we will have our program and speaker with the program beginning at 7:00 p.m.
